Signy Permanent Tide Gauge Observatory Site

History and Details of Signy site:

Signy Island is one of the South Orkney Islands. It is small, being only about 6.5km long and less than 5km wide. There is permanent ice cover over a large part of the island, which has a maximum height of 288m.

The station at Signy was established in 1947 primarily as a meteorological station.
